Banana Pups - Pisang Ceylon (Improved Mysore)
Pisang Ceylon is a great addition to any Agroforestry/Food Forest System. It’s distinct red coloration makes it stand out from other varieties and adds some flare to the food forest. The pseudostems on the Pisang Ceylon are relatively skinny and easy to manage, making them a perfect choice for a biomass/chop & drop plant. The one downside of this variety is it’s lack of wind resistance. For best results, plant in a sheltered location or strictly use it as a biomass plant until the surrounding conditions provide enough of a wind buffer.
The taste of the fruit are what make this variety highly popular amongst banana connoisseurs. It has a balanced flavor of subacid and sweetness and is often compared to berries or apples.
SHIPPING NOTES: Banana pups will be shipped with a healthy corm but will not have any leaves. Bigger pups will be cut to size in order to make shipping easier, this DOES NOT affect the banana pup. As long as the corm is intact and healthy, the banana plant will grow.
